Japanese Bobtails

Post by dayunbao »

Years ago I had a Manx, and since then I've fallen in love with short-tailed cats. At some point in the nearish future (probably after I move to Japan), I plan to get a cat or two. I'm quite fond of Japanese Bobtails, and am thinking about getting one. From what I understand, Bobtails used to be the cat in Japan. They were not some exotic fancy pure breed, but were simply the kind of cat anyone who owned a cat had. I don't think this is true anymore, but does anyone know how easy it would be to get a couple of Bobtails? Without going to a breeder and paying a fortune, I mean?

Thanks for those links! The second link had a lot of beautiful cats, including some Bobtails. I also saw a Bengal, an Abyssinian, and some Siamese.
