For anyone with a tractor or rototiller. After every use wash the thing down with either a hose or ideally jet wash. Apparently most of the soil in Japan leans more towards the acid side and if left on your tiller or tractor can accelerate rust on the parts it's left in contact with after burning through the paint.
We're just replacing the bucket on our tractor and at 8万円 for a new one it's not cheap but I'm not going back to using a wheelbarrow for manure spreading.

Re: An expensive lesson
Ouch. Sorry to hear about that.
One thing I always do when finished using a knife, machete, chainsaw, or other non stainless equipment outside is wash or wipe it down very thoroughly then mist it with some oil (or just wipe it down with a paper toil soaked in a little mineral or even vegetable oil)
never had any problems with tools rusting up thanks to this practice. it is a real chore if the equipment is big but 8man definitely hurts.

Re: An expensive lesson
Thanks for the suggestions guys,
Pressure washer duly bought and a carrier bag with an oily rag is now stored in the garage alongside where we park the tractor. The plan is to wash off the tractor and then wipe down the bucket with the rag after, tried wiping down the rotary attachment but that's too fiddly so will be content to just have it clean each time.
And here is what an 80,000円 bucket looks like.
It's enough to make a grown man cry thinking how many Strong Zero's that could have paid for , still did get a new Kubota cap thrown in so it's not all bad
