Tractor Counter weight on the cheap

Post by DocDoesFarming »

So finally got to use my new (2nd hand) tractor however I'm wheelying about the place because I don't have a bucket on the front of it.
Does anyone have any cheapo suggestions for counter weighing it as I'm tired of getting flashbacks of me trying to wheely my bike at school and crashing it?
I write a load of bollocks, don't take me seriously.

Two things spring to mind. Find a neighbour with a dead tractor and make them an offer or ask your local dealer. They often have dead tractors out back.

Make up a form out of plywood and pour some concrete into it with bolts set at the right distance to attach it to your tractor. Typically concrete weighs around 2,400kg a cubic metre so you should be able to calculate what size to make the formwork.

That concrete black idea sounds like a winner. Cheers man.

I was thinking of the weights but if you could find a bucket that would be awesome

So I took your bolts and concrete block idea and did my own cheap ass spin on it.

Not bad right?

So far so good, it hasn't fallen off yet and wrecked the rotary blades.

Nice lo-tech fix. Plus you can easily remove the blocks should you decide you feel like doing some wheelying about
I’m having a good time with that image, so thanks for that!

:D no probs

Another lo-tech thing I might do is make a contraption to help make beds. I'm currently using a mametora but it's a pain the arse to do both sides nice and even plus it likes to steer to one side so they end up looking pissed.
