To be fair though it's not just the wildlife you have to worry about in Australia, you also have some nasty plants like the gympie gympie.

I’ll take the bears. I’ve chased off a bear in my underwear- didn’t have time to stop and think about my apparel at the time. Sure felt vulnerable when I realized the state I was in. Don’t wanna end up in the news as a “Seminudist mauled by bear”.
"Semi bare-naked man tackles Bear barely"

Do you get many bears in your area?
I think there are a few wild bears deep in the mountains in central Shikoku. A friend is a member of the preservation society. I’m wondering if a joke about bears preferring fresh or moderately fermented meat over preserved meat will translate well into Japanese.

Incomming typhoons for 2020

Hope everyone made it through the typhoon alright. Still intermittent heavy rain here in Tokushima. A tree tried to take out my wife’s car. Kimikirimushi, had turned the trunk to mush. Feeling a little less guilty about cutting all the trees overhanging our house and my parking space on Saturday.

We got hit pretty hard considering how far away we are. I hope this is not the new standard for typhoons.

we had horizontal rain in Hyogo. It was more like a solid wall of water jetting onto the house. But luckily it only lasted about 30 min.

But even this far away the wind was really strong. Being East of a typhoon really is the gnarly side.

I hope every body is safe.

Glad to hear everyone is safe but I wonder how @BrettRas fared ? It went right over the top of him, hopefully he pulled through without any damage.

Luckily Chiba was far enough away this time that we didn't notice anything and to be honest after the pounding we got last year I'll be quite happy if we don't experience any typhoons this year.

Here in Kumamoto it was very windy, but not much rain at all. I was expecting more damage when I went outside the next morning, but aside from some downed small branches and leaves, my area was left unscathed.

Still rated as a tropical storm and let's hope it remains this way.

Maybe @Tora can even get some decent surfing out of it

Yeah man, in the JTWC prediction it looks like it will go right over the top of you guys. I'm hoping the JMA prediction is closer to what actually happens and it stays far far away from Kanto.
