Chiba Earthquake. Western Japan Rains..........

Post by LeeB » Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:03 am

Looks like Japan is going through another episode of 'events'..................

Huge rain in the western part of the country and I see Chiba had another pretty good sized earthquake yesterday.

Hope all the boards members are ok.

The rains over in western Japan have been almost biblical in proportion and caused massive damage, it's really sad to hear about so much loss of life and damage to people's homes.

The earthquake was quite small really and didn't cause any damage.

That's good to know.

I read that the earthquake was a magnitude 6.

Every once in a while we get a small quake here in Victoria - usually a 2 something or a small 3.

With the recent crappy construction of houses around Melbourne, I'd think that if we ever had anything like a magnitude 6 half the houses in the city would be in ruins - mine included.

There are a few developments around here that were built on large areas of fill. Once place had huge problems because it usually flooded when it rained during the building and remedial work had to be done. Frankly, IMO those places are disasters waiting to happen over the next ten years from potential flooding and settling of the land.
