Glad everyone is mostly OK after the typhoon. I've been following the news, and am amazed at the damage some areas experienced. Luckily, the part of Tokyo my girlfriend lives in wasn't really affected at all. I saw a picture her sister took of a bride that had the land around its foundation eroded away. The bridge is still standing, but is unusable. It's a major bridge, too.
I can't believe Chiba got hit by an earthquake, tornado, and the typhoon. All the akiya I was looking at were in Chiba!

@dayunbao although typhoon #19 was really strong and caused massive damage for other parts of the country over here in Chiba we had a lucky escape. The earthquake was a bit of a surprise right in the middle of it but pretty small scale and the tornado did some battering but I think Saitama seems to get more of them than we do. Really it was quite lucky that #19 spared Chiba as it's still reeling from the damage inflicted by #15, that one gave us a real battering and you can still see many roof's covered in blue sheets and having no mains power for a week was pretty horrendous, specially for older folk.

I think they might have to fork out some dough and re-buy them. I don't think they renewed in time for the insurance or some such so no money.Zasso Nouka wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 5:54 amOh man, I'm so sorry for you two.
That is really terrible, fields can be replanted but having a house wrecked by a flooding river is absolutely awful. What will they do now ?DocDoesFarming wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 9:08 pmPretty much all the houses are either broken or filled with dirt and debris. Such a shame.
We were unwrapping the shitake before the storm hit, they're probably sprouting some where else to the surprise of whoever finds them.
Just spent the day dragging out sheeting from the mud, my fingers are dead.
Another colleague didn't take down his cucumber set up so all his poles have either vanished or are mangled.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

Bugger !!! There's another typhoon brewing out in the Pacific.

I think we've all had enough of typhoons for this year so really hoping it will fizzle out or head off somewhere else.

Well that escalated quickly

Looks like we'll be in for a rough weekend next week.

Re: Incomming typhoons for 2019
Does anyone know of a recovery group that deals specifically with farmers? We would like to make a donation of some sort (yen, extra tools we have, household stuff from costco). I have contacted a facebook friend who lives near Nagano and another in Chikuma, but no word yet.
