Are you making western hives or Japanese hives ? We were recently given a Mitre Saw so would be nice to put it to use.
I'm making western hives, I had a go at doing the same thing that the companies in japan make out of cedar but im not sure i quite liked how they turned out so im sticking with the national hive pattern. I'm trying to convince my wife to allow me to buy a dado blade so i can make quick box joints. Once ive got that ill get stuck into making some fancier hives.
It looks that way to me, several blades sandwiched together. Can't quite understand why they'd be illegal, I mean it's not like you are going to go outside and start flinging them around like shuriken or something or am I missing something.
Yea Dado blades have 2 normal ish blades on the outside and then have several ripping blades on the inside, you can set the width by adding more or less of the blades. I have found them in Japan for sale but they cost about 40,000! Yea i had heard they were illegal, might be the homer simpson factor that makes them illegal, someone doesnt use the right arbor size and it flies off or something, I dunno!
