Good luck on the renovation, goathouse, treehouse, studio and workshop. Sounds great! (well, except the goat... not a big fan of goats anymore lol)
Water temps got down to 2 degrees at the local river mouth I frequent and that cold turned me off on surfing for a couple months. The Kuroshio current keeps the water pretty warm down south near Kochi. Is 15 degrees warm?

Too bad about the board. Waterproofing seems to me to be one of the unexpected difficult parts of making a wooden board. I hope you can salvage it. The next one will no doubt be better.

It sounds like there might be a good story for not liking goats "anymore". I've heard some good ones. The wife gets this wispy look in her eye when talking about the cute baby goat she saw and plans to bring home to eat all of the weeds.... if that goes as wrong as it possibly could, at least I'll get another good story out of it.

oh that sounds very cool mate!
I have gone the cheap route to build skills and also because i dont have a workshop yet,
i started out using ply, ive learnt a lot of good lessons for the next one. Once i get the workshop id like to make one out of
sugi. The boards gonna be about 5`9". Got a mate here who owns a shaping shop and hes giving me a lot of help and gonna fix me up when im readdy to glass the board.

For the ply, check out the "Instractables" site for the "magic carpet" build. He did a cool tinted resin to cover up the ply side of his board. I think you could also do something that would still let the grain show but look nice. Or leave I'll factory printing outside and go industrial style. I like the sugi idea and had considered that. Also eying this big paulownia tree my friend wants to cut down too. That's "How to make the wife so angry she can't even speak Method #352".

Good to have a professional to look over your shoulder a tell you when you're about to do something very wrong.

Good luck
