Hello from Miyagi

Post by MartoMiyagi »

Hi Everyone,

I have been browsing this site for a while now and gleaned lots of useful information. I thought it was about time I signed up and tried to contribute. Been in Miyagi for about 12 years all together - on and off since 1999. Loving the slow life in Japan. Surfing, fishing and camping down the beach, just a shame work gets in the way sometimes

Just in the middle of moving in to our 1st house, so the solar thread and DIY posts have been great. Would love to be out in the Inaka some day refurbing an old Akiya, but with us both working full time and having a young son, that dream is on the shelf for now. The house is in a small city but close enough to a few quiet beaches and not too far from the mountains so it will do for now.

My mother in law grows lots of veg at home and I am keen to get in to growing veg for the family. Would love a goat, but Eric has put me off that idea

Welcome!

One of my elderly neighbours had a goat to help her with the weeds until it took out her knees and put her on crutches for a couple of weeks with a torn meniscus.

Welcome to Japan Simple Life MartoMiyagi and thank you for taking the time to sign up, we really do appreciate that.

You don't have to be out in the deep inaka to join, we're open to anyone but it sounds like you have easy access to the nearby countryside. Are you planning to fit solar on to your house ? The solar water heaters will repay their investment very quickly in savings on gas or electricity and photovoltaic panels have come down in price more recently.

Whhhhhat? How did it manage that?
I suggested a goat to my wife, she wasn't having any of it though :/

Also Welcome MartoMiyagi.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
