Welcome aboard Ayuko,
Glad you found your way here. Getting a hunting license sounds like an interesting plan, it would be quite nice I imagine to supply your own meat from animals that have lived wild and free in nature. I have a friend who sometimes gives me small pieces of Innoshishi and shika he hunts and it is very nice. He also sometimes smokes the meat which is a rare treat. Would you be trying to get a gun license or try trapping instead ?
Best of luck with your plans

Welcome Ayuko,
We all have the same dream as yours. Some of us already made the dream come true, some of us have yet. Like me I am still dreaming to become a farmer.
Ganbare!

Thank you everybody for your messages and sorry for replying you back late.
I am planning to get a gun license as you said that would be nice if I could supply my own meat from the wild life. I would like to know the process how it goes before coming to the supermarkets. Somebody who I know also hunts inoshishi and shika with his dogs, and he shares them with his friends.
I will make my dream to come true!
Ganbarimasu!!
By the way, if I want to ask something about gardening and plants, where should I post?
Is it home life forum or country life forum?
I thought It had been good so far but I'm now struggled with aburamushi...(aphid?)
Trying to get lid of them but not sure what the best way is...
Many thanks,
Ayuko

It's good to know where your food comes from, will you go on a course to learn how to cut up inoshishi after you've shot them or do you know how to butcher a wild pig ?Ayuko wrote: I am planning to get a gun license as you said that would be nice if I could supply my own meat from the wild life. Hello everyone!
Looks like this is the thread for self introduction~
I'm from Canada and I came to Japan for a 3 month student exchange when I was 20. I'm in my thirties now and haven't left.
My wife and I were living up in Iwate for a while near family but moved down to Chiba for work. Over the pass 5 years, Chiba or rather Tokyo hasn't really treated my family very well and now that we have kids we're really looking forward to moving back.
The money is the only thing keeping us here. Evil evil money.
Our plan is to head back March 2017. Then I need to find a job.
Current job opportunities are ALT or raising cows or possibly both.
Decisions decisions....

Welcome to JSL Jellois,
City life seems to suit some people and I used to enjoy the hussle and bussle myself but since moving to the countryside we've come to appreciate a slower more human way of life. Being in touch with the seasons and natural cycles sounds a bit hippy-ish but it is a nice way to live.
Raising cows sounds interesting, would you go for something free range or have them inside?

Welcome aboard Jellois,
Great to have you on the team and thank you for joining.
Would that be teaching the cows English ? Have you farmed cows before or would this be a new venture ?jellois wrote: Current job opportunities are ALT or raising cows or possibly both.
