ZN - Yes, a burnable gomi suction pipe running to a big incinerator. :)

Too expensive to maintain now, so I think it will be shut down in the future and then back to the trucks for picking up rubbish.

That's a really good idea, you don't have to keep bags of rubbish around till collection day. It's a real shame they might decommission it in the future, all the work and expense put into setting it up going to waste.

A notice from the city last week showing what not to put down the pipe. Looks like someone even tried to get rid of a bed! Such items often block the suction system.

I reckon people abuse that system more than they do normal in-the-bag gomi because its out of the eye.

I wonder what the worst thing shoved down there has been. (I shudder to imagine)

A lot of people do disappear in Japan especially if doing Yonige.
