Recently, I occasionally mentally estimate (mindless) jobs by how many beers it would take to get done.
Mowing the field- 3 beers
Burning all the leaves and branches from the oak trees I cut down- 5-10 beers
Rebuilding the carb on the big chainsaw- 1-2 beers and a few more if that’s not the problem- I’m on the 3rd possible problem for it not running.

Granted, I seldom drink those beers- I just think that’s what the job is worth. Kind of like that living wage thing. Being an immigrant laborer, I’m not even worth minimum wage to the wife.

Small Gas Engine Repair a very useful book to have around, I got an earlier edition but it's been priceless when an engine won't work.
