Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
Hi senpai,
I have taken over a decent sized plot of land in northern Gunma and am looking to escape the city for the real world in the next few years. I am still in the process of trying to get blessed to buy the land (zoned as nochi), but hopefully not too far away.
Looking forward to swapping stories and advice.
Cheers,
Nick

Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
Hi Nick and welcome to Japan Simple Life. Thank you for taking the time to sign up, it's really appreciated.
Sounds like a good plan you have there, are you currently negotiating with the local Nougyou Inkai and city agricultural department ? In some places it is as easy as buying or renting the land to qualify as a farmer yet other locations place all sorts of barriers in the way.
What's your plan once you have the land ?

Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
Thanks Zasso Nouka,
The plan is a perma-culture based food forest. Started on the nut trees and berries, and got a market garden in. Still thinking about what to plant in the rest of the area, but grapes are on the list.

Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
I'm certainly interested to hear how you get on, best of luck negotiating with the Nougyou Inkai and AG department.
Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
Welcome! And globally speaking, we might be kinda neighbors. We have a little place in Nagano (Miyota) if you ever find yourself over this way, happy to show you our efforts.

Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
Been a tad slack on the welcome wagon. But it is really wonderful to have you here.

Hi Nick. Hope you've managed to get the blessing from the powers that be to buy the land by now.
I'm looking for a place in north-east Gunma myself (we've got family in Shibukawa). Can I ask what websites you used to find the land?
Thanks!

Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
Savot,
Didn't use a real estate agent. I was used introduced to the property through a friend up there. These two people seem pretty connected - may be worth a chat to them:

Also try the Akiya bank.

Hi from a wannabe in Gunma
Thanks Nick, that's really useful. I've been monitoring a few akiya banks in the area, but new listings don't come up that often. I'll try contacting the people you suggested. Cheers!
