You can order single packs if you want but postage still has to be paid unfortunately, what they do offer is varieties that you might not be able to get in your local home centre. If you plan out what you are going to grow for the year and order a bunch of packs then the postage isn't too bad.

Found this site the other day, they have several good sections including guides to vegetable growing and an excellent pest & disease identification section

I just wanted to warn everyone to stay away from https://www.marcheaozora.com/

Their seeds sprouting rate is the worst I have seen in my life, around 4%. I contacted them to let them know about the issue and not only they took forever to get back at me but found myself in an endless avalanche of them blaming me for every possible mistake in the book, I wasnt even after a refund but since they had such a terrible attitude a contacted their payment processor and made a claim, got the refund within 48 hours.

Thanks for the warning man  that's really good to know. Sadly some of the smaller seed companies don't store their seeds properly so germination rates drop off rapidly in the heat and humidity of summer :(

Yeah in the case of this company is specially bad, because they sell mostly unusual / hard to find seeds so I guess they often just ship in-viable stock from several years before since they probably cant sell their stock in time.

It was really disappointing because they have REALLY interesting stuff, thats why I was hoping not to get a refund but that they send me new seeds, it would have been less of a loss for them too.

There are some other companies that import seeds from abroad in their original packing and sometimes the seeds germinate well yet other times nothing comes up from a whole pack which can be very disappointing so we've largely stopped buying from them.

Eek! I wish I had found this out before making an order. I will report back with my germination rates in a few weeks.

It can be really disheartening when you've sown a whole pack of seeds you were really looking forward to and then nothing comes up at all :(

Film about Pitchfork Farms, Mukaishima Island (Hiroshima)

Post by Growing Small »

Wanted to share this film I did about a natural farm in Hiroshima with people interested in this kind of stuff. Fukuoka-san is still an inspiration for many of us, and some people carry on his legacy in awesome fashion!
