And this is why They sell Kevlar chaps in chainsaw shops

Post by Zasso Nouka »

Was clearing some bamboo with the chainsaw yesterday and as it was quite warm and sticky so decided to forego the kevlar chainsaw chaps, I mean what could possibly go wrong ?

Well lets just say it wasn't the smartest decision I've ever made and could have very easily gone hideously wrong.

All in all a very lucky escape that could have ended quite differently. Yeah the chaps aren't cheap but what price to pay for walking on two legs ?

Glad to see you’re okay. Thanks for the warning. I was wearing my chaps yesterday in the rain but a couple of times didn’t bother with the goggles or gloves - good reminder that things can go wrong.

Ouch. Glad it wasn't something serious.
I really need to invest in gear now. I've only just started wearing goggles while clearing weeds which was stupid of me.
I write a load of bollocks, don't take me seriously.

Thank you. Things like this are a lucky reminder not to skip on the safety kit before something more serious happens, funnily enough I was like the opposite of you and had the helmet and gloves on but thought it too humid for the chaps. Lessons learned and all that ;)

Thanks man. Honestly get some safety kit. It can only take a split second to seriously ruin your day, a small stone flicked up whilst using a kusakariki or a sliver of bamboo stuck in your eye, let alone a chainsaw cutting you.

I was cringing even before opening your post....glad it had a happy ending, and going to go show my husband the photo, for educational purposes.
