Went for Burtle Aircraft in the end, their jackets and fans are maybe just a little more expensive than other makes but in physical shops their batteries are really expensive but online about half the price. However the capacity is quite large, can get 8 hours at 10v which is quite good but recharge time is a rather long 7 hours.

One other thing that you mentioned was that these jackets provide a layer of insulation from direct sunlight and I definitely noticed that.

The only drawback I've noticed is that it doesn't work with the harness for my kusakariki, that's not a fault of the jacket more of the geometry of the harness. Have to plan accordingly and do weed trimming before putting the jacket on.

All in all a massive thank you for saying how good they are in the first place, if you hadn't I probably wouldn't have got one.

you could get a neutered goat to do the kusakari for you. Then you would have longer cool times and some goat poops for composting instead of having to gather up all the kusa you kari-ed. Win win. And if there ever is a zombie apocalypse, youd have ingredients for a rather good Argentinian Asado feast.

This is what we do. Goat instagram is here: https://www.instagram.com/gethpari/

The complications are:
1) You can't just keep one goat as goats get lonely, so you at least need a *pair* of goats.
2) You have to be careful keeping them tethered near steep slopes in case they fall down and strangle themselves
3) There are certain kinds of weeds that are poisonous to goats, so we end up doing a certain amount of weeding before we let the goats lose on the weeds, which kind of defeats the object

@Ibaraki llama You may already know this but just in case not, check the inside back of your jacket. There may be a mesh pocket there you can put one of those squishy cool gel packs used for keeping food cool in a cooler box. Adds a little extra cooling which is nice.

Great idea - does it help with cold air for the fans?

It does cool the air a bit but mainly having it in contact with your back also cools you down.

And the goat can escape and cause mayhem and destroy everything you have worked for, or it will be standing at the furthest extent of its tether, ignoring lush weeds around it, screaming at the top of its lungs to be tied up a few meters away, where the exact same weeds are growing in similar profusion.
