It's a lovely looking stove, very nice modern styling, with a huge firebox and having the oven as well should be a real benefit, reckon you'll be really happy when you get to fire it up. I wish we had an oven on our stove :cry:

Show us some pictures when you get it installed.

Does anybody have a recommended stove polish or stove “black”? Should’ve done this 5-6 months ago… but better now than never!

We've used the Rutland one but you need to have a burn in the stove on a day you can open the whole house up as it can make a lot of smoke and smell pretty strong, I totally wasn't expecting that so lit the stove up one evening and suddenly the house was full of smoke and Mrs Nouka was giving me the look of death :doh: . Perhaps if you put it on in the spring and left it till autumn/winter it might not make any smoke but I can't guarantee that so be prepared.

Thanks Zasso.

It was chilly here last night so we decided to fire up the stove to warm up the house in the evening. Winter may be coming but summer lives on in my house!

The Williams brand in the yellow package, which appears to be sold by Rutland in Japan , seems to have good reviews here and in the US so I’ll probably go with that. I will take your advice and make a good fire on a day when we can have the house opened up to let any smoke out.

Thanks Donguri! That’s good to know.

Been busy with other projects and the price had gone up ¥6-800 when I went to order it the other day so I said “NOPE”. Maybe the price went up when the temp went down last week and people started using (read ”paying attention to”) their stoves. I’ll wait a few days and check again. If the price doesn’t come again, I’ll probably order it from the scAmazon in the US as it seemed cheaper that way than buying it in Japan :roll:

Little late on this, here are some pictures of our stove. Stove was installed in May. Started to use the stove at the beginning of November.

So far love the stove. Great heat output, no noise like the a/c unit. No kerosene smell. Love that it is not drafty like kerosene fans and a/c unit. Oven is great. Have made ribs, Lassana, pizza and lots of roasted garlic in it. Nice surprise is that it is great for making toast in the morning.

Spend the full day cutting and chopping wood yesterday. So far this part is fun but I can see how that part of the wood burning stove part will get to be a pain soon. :lol:

Beginner question.

Stove glass cleaner or ash? Manual says only use stove glass cleaner but friends all say they just use ash and water.

Nice looking stove. I envy your oven! Interesting OLD old school style house construction too.

Ive never used glass cleaner. When the stove is cold, I use a little water (or spit) on a paper towel or tissue and maybe some fluffy ash if it’s really dirty. If I clean the glass before it gets too bad, it only takes a minute or so.

If we keep the wood a couple inches from the glass, there isn’t usually much buildup.

I will give that a try. For the most part the glass is fairly clean, outer edges are black though, probably won't let it get this bad next time.

Man the oven looks really good, much better than cooking with a Dutch oven on top of a stove. I'm totally jealous.

As Tora says we never use any glass cleaner, just a moist soft cloth to clean any ash buildup. As a point of interest are you placing a couple of lightly crumpled sheets of newspaper on top of the wood when lighting the fire ?
